The municipal environmental protection authority monitors the Waste Act (646/2011) and ensures that waste management regulations are complied with. By sorting correctly, you can help protect and preserve our nature and living environment.

In Korsholm, Vörå, Malax and Korsnäs (Mustasaari, Vöyri, Maalahti and Korsnäs), municipal waste management is handled by Ab Stormossen Oy. In Närpes, Kristinestad and Kaskö (Närpio, Kristiinankaupunki and Kaskinen) municipal waste management is handled by Oy Botniarosk Ab. You will find sorting guides, information on waste management and reception points for both households and companies as well as agriculture on each website. In the municipalities, there are ecopoints for clean paper, glass, metal and batteries as well as recycling stations maintained by the waste management companies.

Vaasan seudun jätelautakunnan toiminta (Vaasa Waste Management Board) handles official tasks in connection with waste management within Ab Stormossen Oy’s area of activity for the municipalities of Korsholm, Vörå, Malax and Korsnäs (Mustasaari, Vöyri, Maalahti and Korsnäs). The host municipality is the City of Vaasa. Suupohjan Jätelautakunta (South Ostrobothnia Waste Management Board) handles official tasks in connection with waste management within Oy Botniarosk Oy’s area of activity for the municipalities of Närpes, Kristinestad and Kaskö (Närpio, Kristiinankaupunki and Kaskinen). The host municipality is Teuva. Within their areas of activity, the waste management boards are responsible for official tasks in accordance with the Waste Act and decide on matters imposed on the municipality in accordance with the Waste Act.

According to the Waste Act (646/2011), a waste holder must agree to have their waste collected by a private waste operator within the area. Notice of a common waste container and an extended waste-container emptying interval is addressed to the respective waste board.
